Fitness Products
There are a lot of products in the game of triathlon. So much you could spend decades sorting through every one that is offered in order to find the ones that work for you. That is why I’m sharing the ones that have worked best for me.
Before choosing any of these products, I did extensive research and read countless reviews. I started triathlon, and continue it on a very tight budget. Therefore, I need the best quality for the cheapest price. Sounds ideal right? I wish everything in life was that simple. Well, hopefully this page will help the gear search near that level of simplicity for you!

The Go To Watch for any activity
The Garmin forerunner 935 has been with me on every triathlon, hiking excursion, mountain biking trek and diaper change. It is mid-priced with all the perks of Garmin’s top of the line watches. My favorite aspect is that it is light and non-cumbersome, making it it perfect everyday watch to help me track my fitness, training, and personal activity.
The Heart Rate Monitor For all Events
Why the Tri HRM? Well why not?
Even if you don’t triathlon, you can still jump in the lake after a long run because it can be submerged. Plus, if one day you end up in triathlon, you don’t have to get another!
A clean, natural Electrolyte
I started using Nuun after every workout more than 45 minutes. I had to find a better way than gatorade to replenish my electrolytes. The bottom line is I didn’t want sugar and I didn’t really care to daily ingest ingredients that were sourced in a test-tube.
Nuun contains all plant-based electrolytes, and has only 1 gram of sugar. That way, I can quickly restore my electrolytes and slowly get my sugars through real food, the only way sugar should get into the body.
The Rub of all Rubs
Throw out your bengay and icy hot. This rub hits a new level of greatness. Doterra Deep blue is made with all natural essential oils and it dives deep into the muscles. Using peppermint, camphor, ylang-ylang, chamomile and more it soothes the muscles with a sharp cool that lasts, and works.
I have it in my car in case my calves start cramping while I’m driving. I also keep it in my gym bag and bedside table. This is a must in my training!
If you choose right there is only need for one…
Juice-Plus has been a game changer for me. My story echo’s that of athletes around the world- the Swiss, Austrian and German Olympic teams to name a few, and many others have found Juice-Plus to be their answer. I once had supplement galore and just never felt right. Now I have one, and my wife and sons have the same one and I’ve never felt better. The kicker- it’s simple, pure, natural…. just as God designed us to eat.
Go to Protein
The Whey Isolate from Myprotein helps me get the kick of protein my body needs every day, at the most competitive price on the market. I am 80% plant based so I choose the whey Isolate which has no lactose, just pure whey!
Because I only run in these now…
When I first began running I tried all the fancy things. Minimalist, barefoot, low heel and impressive trail runners. I ended up with intense foot pain, Achilles Tendonitis, and IT band and hamstring issues. What did the Hoka one bring? Heel support and alleviation from all those injuries.
Indoor, outdoor, dark, light
Well goggles… There are so many options. I went through some of the best to find out they leaked, fogged or the strap broke after two months of heavy use. I bought some for $100 that were worthless in the sunlight during a race. I bought some other ones at a similar price that were too dark to see the wall in the indoor pool.
Then I stumbled across the vanquisher because I was jumping in the pool and my strap broke. I ran across the street to the sports store and these were all they had in stock. The price seemed like they would be worthless, but I was in for a surprise!
The only soap that cuts the chlorine
When I first started swimming, my skin felt as tight and uncomfortable as a retired chip n dale’s leather chaps. I reached out to my cousin, Pamala to see if she had a soap that would help my skin.
She had been making all natural blends for years so she referred me to her Fresh Sage soap bar. My skin has not felt the same since. With shea butter, coconut oil, goats milk and naturally sourced essential oils the chlorine smell is nearly unnoticeable and the dryness and tightness is eliminated!
Its a no brainer…
I swim, bike and run in these. I have only bought one pair and the padding still exists despite heavy daily use. They are the only spandex I will trust my jewels and performance with. The legs don’t ride up during the ride and they dry before I have changed into my bike shoes after swimming. I blame these for not having a referral for a good chaffing creme, because it’s never, not once happened to me (knock on wood!)
When Energy is Running low
Nutrition is key and in long distance training and racing it is just impossible to eat enough of the right stuff before.
GU gels are the original gap filler for the endurance athlete. I have been eating these since I was 8 years old on long mountain bike treks and still line my spandex with them today. On long swims I even place them in my speedo.
The carbohydrates give you that extra burst which is often all I need. If you want even more kick then CLICK HERE for the caffiene infused gels.
The Sock with no comparison
This sock is no joke. From high octane sprints and Vo2 interval sessions to long 15+ mile runs in the summer heat this sock takes the beating so your feet don’t have to. I tried many other pairs and kept ending up with blisters and shoes so wet from sweat they took days to dry out. I have only bought three pair of these socks. Why? Because they last through anything you put them through!
Made pain no more the game..
Triathlon still hurts. Everyday. But with any hard workout routine, recovery is key. I foam roll multiple times a day to avoid injury, increase blood flow and decrease pain related to exertion. A must have and small enough for the gym bag!
Ah and music!
Believe it or not this took quite a bit of trial and error too! When I train I sweat a lot. So I either broke the earbuds from moisture, or they started slipping out of my ear after I got a mile into a run. I got a pair of these and haven’t looked back. They hook into my ear, hugging it tightly so that they don’t move around and slip out. They don’t feel like hard plastic in my ear causing irritation. Plus they are very easy to use!
I don’t swim with music, I love to hear the bubbles and my breathing. But if you don’t like bubbles and would rather some tunes, Click Here and try these !
